Pressure-Induced Surfactant Association: the Concept of a Critical Coagelization Pressure

  • Chapter
Surfactants in Solution

Abstract

Most of the experimental and theoretical work on the aggregation of ionic amphiphiles in aqueous media has been devoted to understanding how this phenomenon is affected by such factors as concentration, temperature, or chemical structure of the investigated surfactants.1-2 Yet, much less is known as to how amphiphile aggregation is affected by an increase in hydrostatic pressure.3-4
