We have now come to the end of two days of exhaustive review of some of the key developments in the somatostatin field over the last decade. The vigorous panel discussions have generated many new ideas and the individual experts have focused on some of the future directions in their respective areas. My task now is to recapitulate, to fill in some of the gaps, and to give you my perception of the field as I have seen it evolve over the last ten years and where I see it heading over the coming years.
