Sex Differences in the Prevalence of Problem Drinking

  • Chapter

Part of the book series: Research Advances in Alcohol and Drug Problems ((AADP,volume 5))

Abstract

“If the many hidden alcoholics among women came out into the open and sought treatment, there would be a one to one ratio with male alcoholics ... public education is needed to enable women to escape from the double stigma of being both alcoholic and morally degenerate and to seek help with a clear conscience” (The Journal, Jan. 1, 1979).
