Abstract

A method for the analysis of purine bases and their nucleosides by RP-HPLC has been developed using a procedure similar to that reported in Reference 1. A chromatogram of standard compounds is shown in Figure 1. The method has been employed for the evaluation of purine metabolites in plasma from subjects admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit of the University of Rome (A) and for the study of allopurinol metabolism in human heart (B).
