Abstract
There are several known approaches to an optical holographic memory including memory with superposed holograms (see, for example,1). The basic aim of research on holographic memory is usually the development of a reliable, large-capacity, high-speed memory directly interfaced with a large computer. We believe that the problem of interfacing a digital computer which operates serially with a parallel unit such as an optical memory is very complex, requiring the development of a buffer memory system with sophisticated control circuitry.
