Abstract
In this paper we ask whether there are similarities in the control of diverse motor activities by comparing the kinematic patterns of movements in two distinct behaviors: flexion and extension of the elbow and movement of the tongue dorsum in the production of speech. Our assumption is that even motor activities which are as different as limb movements and speech will share common organizational principles and those principles will be reflected in their kinematic form.
