Quantum Chemical Treatment of Adsorbed Species

  • Chapter
Modern Aspects of Electrochemistry

Abstract

The purpose of this chapter is to point out the current status of the quantum chemical treatment of surfaces and surface species so that its application to electrode processes may be more readily made. There has been no attempt made to exhaustively cover the literature, particularly that before 1960, but, rather, the more important developments are sketched. A number of review articles provide access to all but the more recent literature for both surface states of clean crystals1–5 and adsorbed species.5–8
