Abstract

By measuring the energy, spectral, time and angular characteristics of 2ωO and 3ωO/2 (ωO is the frequency of laser radiation) generated in a plasma of critical nC and quarter critical nC/4 density, respectively, one can diagnose quite a number of plasma parameters and their evolution during a laser pulse.1–5 The localization of harmonic radiation near nC and nC/4 regions make it possible to determine the plasma parameters of these regions, which are most important when a powerful laser interacts with matter.6
