Abstract

In the last years there has been an increasing interest in electron-atom scattering in the presence of an intense electromagnetic field.1–5) The triple interaction between electrons, atoms and photons exhibits many unusual features. There are in this field theoretical problems which are related to basic quantum mechanics such as the existence of quantum modulation of electrons.6–8) The understanding of such processes is important, also, for applied fields such as plasma heating9) and free electron lasers.10–11)
