Abstract
In 1935, Stein and Leventhal described a syndrome characterized by menstrual irregularities, infertility, hirsutism, moderate obesity, and polycystic ovaries. Wedge resection of the ovaries resulted in ovulatory cycles and regular menses in the majority of cases.
