Abstract

I have previously [1] described the effects of melt temperature on block banding (a structure due to small-angle boundaries in metallic single crystals). Further studies have been made on banding in crystals of Co—8 at.% Fe grown under various conditions, and these confirm the previous results [1]: growth at elevated temperatures tends to accentuate the banding.
