Abstract
Research on systems of MF2 —(Y, Ln)F3 type with M = Ca, Sr, Ba has been stimulated in recent years by the use of such materials in lasers [1–3]. The compositions and structures of the phases in these systems have been surveyed [4]. The SrF2—(Y, Ln)F3 systems have been examined in the least detail, and only two laser materials have been derived from this series [3].
