Summary
The robustness of contingency table analysis is examined by perturbing the data in the sparse regions of the table. The effect of the perturbation is assessed by the change to the additive elements of the conditional equi-probability models. By way of example it is concluded that the graphical models are substantially less robust than the corresponding two-way interaction models.
