Abstract

Large numbers of polynuclear transition-metal complexes have now been characterized by X-ray crystallography.1 Many of them, particularly the larger aggregates,1d have structures resembling those of metals. On the basis of this and other similarities, a number of workers2 have suggested that useful analogies may be drawn between clusters and metal surfaces.
