Abstract

Lipolysis in fat cells is regulated at least in part by the intracellular levels of adenosine 3′,5′-monophosphate (cyclic AMP) (1, 2). Cyclic AMP levels in fat cells are increased or decreased by several hormones and chemical agents. The relationships between such agents, cyclic AMP, and lipolysis are illustrated in Fig. 1.
