Modification of Bile Acid Spectrum by Dietary Fiber

Abstract

Among the disorders originally implicated as being related to intake of dietary fiber was the incidence of gallstones (Burkitt et al.,(1974). Modification of the bile acid spectrum of bile modifies its saturation and is currently being used as a treatment in gallstone patients (Hofmann, 1980).
