Surgical Indications in Dermatology

  • Chapter
Book cover Dermatosurgery

Abstract

Benign and malignant neoplasms, as well as cancerous lesions and cysts, constitute the majority of skin conditions indicating surgery or biopsy. They will be grouped here according to tissue origin, and where possible we will list synonyms in common usage, the frequency of occurrence, the predilection sites, the margin of certainty to be expected from clinical diagnosis, and the differential diagnoses which must be frequently considered [147]. Afterwards, possible methods of treatment will be listed, and as necessary, improper procedures will also be mentioned.
