Abstract

With the rapid expansion of the internet considerable interest has focused on the development and use of intelligent agents. We recall that an intelligent agent [1] is a computer software whose function is to accomplish some task on the internet in accordance with the desires of its owner. These tasks may range from seeking out information on some specified topic from different sources on the internet to the planning of some complex project. In many cases the tasks required of intelligent agents may involve the interaction of multiple intelligent, each of which belonging to a different owner. The possibility of interaction between agents brings to the fore the need for negotiations between agents in order to jointly accomplish their assigned tasks. In [2] Rosenschein and Zlotkin began looking at some approaches for the automated negotiation between agents.
