Abstract
Lath is the base upon which gypsum plaster is placed. In older construction, wood lath was utilized with multiple coats of plaster placed directly upon it. Many examples of this construction persist, and its life can indeed be substantial. However, today, lath principally means one of two kinds: metal lath or gypsum lath.
