Abstract
I take great pleasure in opening this Symposium on“Current Trends in International Fusion Research” As you know, this Symposium has been organized under the auspices of the Global Foundation,“A Nonprofit Organization for Global Issues and Frontier Problems in Science” Since Prof. Behram Kursunoglu, the Chairman of the Board of that Foundation, could not make it this morning to give you his personal welcome because of early commitments, he has sent me this letter that I want to read to you, so that you can have an idea of the objectives and mandate of the Global Foundation, and why this Symposium fits very well within the range of its objectives.
