Abstract

This paper reviews some of the properties which make neutrons a unique and versatile probe for dynamics of solids, and gives examples of results that have been obtained in some of the most central problem areas. Introductory chapters also treat aspects of neutron sources and the most important types of instrumentation for inelastic scattering.
