Overview

Of all the 17000 plastics available worldwide that are used in all the processes (extrusion, injection molding, etc.), most undergo compounding in order to meet product requirements [241]. It is estimated that over 65wt% of the 150 million tons (340 billion lb) consumed worldwide are compounded in one of many different designed extruders and batch type mixers that have a prominent place in this industry. Compounding is a very large and important market.
