Abstract
In this chapter we describe the fundamental modelling techniques used in the definition of the product model required to support the DEFMAT architecture. This leads to a description of the design and manufacturing features used to implement the integration between design (CAD) and the DFM/A expert system (and associated process and manufacturing resource models). There follows a discussion of the CAD interfacing mechanisms required to support a fully generic DFM/A architecture concept.
