Abstract

In the previous chapter it was shown that Kerberos has been a success in the field of network security. Unfortunately due to the governing export regulations in the U.S., this type of technology was not available on a large scale in Europe in the late 80’s. It was possible to obtain the Kerberos distribution for the members of OSF through the DCE distribution but this was very costly and had numerous restrictions.
