Abstract
Meibomian gland secretion (meibom) in human1–5 and rabbit6,7 comprises triglycerides, neutral lipids, and polar lipids. Phospholipids have been further identified and quantified.8 Collectively, these lipids are believed to form the lipid layer of the tear film, which can be observed in the interpalpebral fissure by interferometry.9–11
