Abstract
Prostaglandin E2 is released at the site of an inflammatory response, but the consequences are not always easy to predict. This is because both pro- and anti-inflammatory actions of PGE2 can be demonstrated in different experimental models (1). Following from our studies on the characterization of PGE (EP-) receptor subtypes in smooth muscle preparations (2,3), we decided to investigate the nature of the receptors mediating the pro- and anti-inflammatory actions of PGE2 and its analogues.
