Abstract

The strong interest in microwave properties of CPs has emanated from the fact that CPs are inherently strong absorbers of microwave and mm-wave electromagnetic radiation, show high conductivity in these frequency regions, and when either alone or incorporated into composites display broad-band microwave properties absent in metal or C-fiber filled materials. Applications of these microwave properties, which are covered elsewhere in this chapter, include aircraft structural materials capable of stealth against radar and other frequencies and withstanding lightning strikes and electromagnetic impulse (EMI) shielding materials.
