Abstract
The interdigital cantilever introduced in Chapter 4 can be operated with a commercial AFM that is configured for the optical lever without modification. This is because the laser focal spot is generally large enough to illuminate a few sets of interdigital fingers and the split photodetector is typically placed more than one centimeter from the cantilever which is in the far field diffraction region.
