From Reengineering to Continuous Process Adaptation

  • Chapter
Business Process Engineering

Abstract

During the last years, process-orientation has evolved as the primary paradigm for structuring the organization. In most of the current management concepts, such as “Lean Management” [(Jackson and Jones, 1996); (Womack and Jones, 1996)], “Total Quality Management” [(Bank, 1993); (Goetsch and Davis, 1996)], “The Fractal Company” (Warnecke, 1993), “Agile Manufacturing” (Montgomery and Levine, 1996), “Virtual Corporation” [(Davidow and Malone, 1992); (Byrne, et al., 1993)] etc., consideration of business processes plays an important role.
