Abstract
We need a convenient framework to discuss the importance of functional form considerations in regression models, particularly those used in transport demand analysis, and provide a background for the presentation of advances in this area and demonstrations of their relevance. Two-stage demand models provide it because their key distinct components, models of levels and probabilistic or share models, cover much of the practical regression field in Economics and Transportation.
