Abstract
Support Our Students (SOS) Saturday Academy is an outreach partnership program with the Department of Child Development and Family Relations, School of Human Environmental Sciences at East Carolina University (ECU), the Boys and Girls Clubs of Pitt County, Inc., and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Youth Services Division. Saturday Academy is an expansion of the SOS concept of improving academic performance among at-risk middle-school students. The SOS Initiative is a public-private partnership that links parents, schools, churches, agencies, and corporations in a collaborative effort to provide mentoring, resources, support and guidance, and safe places for young people.
