Abstract
Neuropsychology is the study of the relationship between brain function and behavior. More specifically, the clinical neuropsychologist attempts to determine the biological understructure of specific behaviors by assessing changes in emotion, cognition, and personality that occur as a result of brain pathology. By utilizing standardized neuropsychological tests to examine brain functions, the clinical neuropsychologist can diagnose the type, location, and velocity of central nervous system disease and, more important, address the effect that such a disease has had on a patient’s adaptive capabilities.
