Status and Physics Perspectives of the New Dielectron Spectrometer Hades

  • Chapter
Advances in Nuclear Dynamics 5

Abstract

HADES is a High Acceptance DiElectron Spectrometer designed to measure dielectrons emitted in central collisions of the heaviest ions at energies in the few GeV/μ regime. The spectrometer is being installed at GSI, Germany. Making use of heavy ion and particle (π,p) beams the physics of in-medium modifications of hadrons and electromagnetic transition form factors of mesons in the vacuum will be addressed. This contribution discusses the experimental concept and programme and the status of the project.
