Abstract
Enterprise performance improvement arises from ever increasing competition at global market continuous to be one of the primary issues in the 1990s. Performance measurement has proved to be one of the most effective tools for driving continuous improvement in enterprises. In this chapter, the historical development of performance measurement together with several of its related concepts are explored, the necessity for enterprise modeling is justified by the current needs for performance measurement and improvement of enterprises. Finally, some existing enterprise models for measuring performance of manufacturing enterprises are reviewed.
