Abstract

The theme of wage relations and the social reproduction of labour addresses the qualitative aspect of wages, their form and structure. It is a theme that brings out clearly how the form of wage relations implies a particular organisation of society. This does not mean that each society has a homogeneous and uniform system of wage relations. Disparities in wage relations, as evident in the following papers, exist both within and between different states and are critical to understanding how change is effected.
