Part of the book series: Biochemistry of the Elements ((BOTE,volume 13B))

Abstract

Much information has been accumulated in the last two decades about the abilities of scandium and yttrium to serve as inert markers in nutrition research and the investigation of metabolic processes; also, they serve as informative probes of the interactions of calcium, magnesium, aluminum, and other metals with molecules of biochemical interest.
