Abstract
In her book Lanterns, Marian Wright Edelman (1999), president of the Children’s Defense Fund, writes about the many mentors who influenced and inspired her throughout her life. These were her parents, elders in her community, teachers, preachers, and civil rights leaders—natural mentors who entered her daily life.
