Abstract
Within the next two years, four European countries (Italy, Germany, UK and France) will each have more than ten million people aged 65 and older. In addition, the over-75 age group is the fastest growing population. The vast majority of people over age 65 are low-income women. The needs of this population are significant. Life expectancy of people without disabilities is 73 years for men and 74 years for women. This fact should be taken into account by healthcare programs, which should not only focus on the issues of mental illness and accommodation.
