Abstract

Thymidine phosphorylase (TP), also known as platelet-derived endothelial cell growth factor (PD-ECGF), is specifically involved in the reversible dephosphorylation of thymidine to thymine and 2-deoxy-D-ribose-1 -phosphate. It is a potent angiogenic factor shown to induce endothelial cell migration and proliferation (Moghaddam et al 1995).
