Abstract
As we look at the economy in the Southwest, we confront such issues as the competitiveness of our economy in the years ahead and the urgent question of what we need to do today to prepare our human resources to meet future needs. We face the prospect, indeed the reality, of an unprepared labor force. So, I am very happy that we have included the subject of education on the agenda for this conference. This is an economic conference, but education is an economic issue.
