Abstract
Energy, like force and motion, is an unspecialized concept, applicable to almost all fields of physics, and providing them with a common unit of measurement. Energy plays a starring role in the most abstract theories as well as in the most practical concerns. Everyone, of course, is aware of its economic, social, and military importance.
