Abstract
The large scale or “global” vorticity structure of two-dimensional, non-tapered, bluff bodies at moderate and large Reynolds numbers is dominated by an essentially two-dimensional geometrical structure. However, when the body geometry is three-dimensional and varies in the spanwise direction, three-dimensional vortex dynamics and geometry play an essential role in determining the vortex topology of the global wake structure.
