Abstract

We study a shell-model of three dimensional fully developed turbulence. By calculating the structure functions, we find corrections to the classical Kolmogorov theory due to an intermittent structure of energy dissipation. The intermittency can be described in terms of a multifractal scaling. The information dimension of the fractal measure given by the energy dissipation is found to be D 1≃2.92. We also study Lyapunov exponents and eigenvectors and relate the spatial intermittency to these dynamical quantities.
