A Theory of Diffraction of Waveguide Polaritons

  • Chapter
Laser Optics of Condensed Matter

Abstract

An analytical theory of diffraction phenomena in a wave guide which is partly coated with a thin dielectric film is developed. With the use of the modified Wiener-Hopf method transformation coefficients for waveguide polaritons are calculated, in particular, in the vicinity of the resonance of waveguide modes with vibrations in a thin film. Possible nonlinear optical phenomena for an interferometer for waveguide modes are discussed.
