Abstract
Those who practice transfusion medicine are increasingly aware of the importance of legislation and regulation as a means of safeguarding the best aspects of their current practice. There is, as a corollary, an increased interest in, and a turning to such legislation as exists. The AIDS epidemic has not only enhanced the interest in legislation but has brought with it a flood of legislation and litigation.
