Abstract
Flavonoid compounds are among the most widely distributed natural plant products. They occur in several conjugated forms, most commonly as glycosylated and methylated derivatives, although other flavonoids may be acylated, prenylated or sulfated.1,2 A variety of flavonoids have been assigned different roles as antimicrobial compounds, stress metabolites or signalling molecules.3-7
