Abstract
Prostate carcinoma is the most common cancer in men with more than 100,000 new cases of this disease occurring in the United States in 1990 [1]. More than 30,000 men die of prostate cancer each year in the United States, making it the second leading cause of male cancer deaths. This rate appears to be rising. Similar observations have been reported for males in France [2]. The deciphering of the various genetic events which lead to prostate cancer development thus assumes a crucial aspect, similar to that for other cancers (e.g., lung, colon and breast).
