Abstract
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a sensitive and accurate method of detecting skeletal metastases. Its effectiveness is predicated on the fact that most metastatic bony deposits involve the bone marrow, whose fat content is readily imaged by MR. Changes in marrow fat are accurately reflected by alterations in signal intensity, making MRI an ideal modality for sensing marrow-altering bony neoplasms.
