Abstract
The Post-Reduction Off-line Software (PROS) is a portable X-ray analysis software system that is integrated into the Image Reduction and Analysis System (IRAF), which was developed at the National Optical Astronomy Observatories (NOAO; see Tody, this volume). The PROS consists of a suite of applications tasks and an interactive image display program, SAOimage, which runs under the X-windows system. The PROS is being developed on a network of SUN workstations by our group at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO) in coordination with the IRAF development group at NOAO and the Space Telescope Science Data Analysis System (STSDAS) group at the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI). The PROS has been written for the analysis of pointed data from the ROSAT X-ray telescope, and developed and tested using Einstein Observatory data. Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) has the primary responsibility for testing the PROS as part of the joint GSFC and SAO activities in support of the U.S. ROSAT Science Data Center (USRSDC). In addition, a number of sites in the community received the β-test version of the PROS for evaluation in late 1990.
