Structural Phase Transformations in Alloys: An Electron Microscopy Study

  • Chapter
Structural and Phase Stability of Alloys

Abstract

Electron microscopy, including atomic scale high resolution observations, combined with electron diffraction are highly qualified to provide structural data on different aspects of phase transformations in alloys. Two different topics are described: a) the structural changes occurring at interfaces, particularly antiphase boundaries, close to the order disorder temperature b) the pre-transition modulations associated with the displacive austenite-martensite transformation.
